The parish of Carcavelos belongs to the county of Cascais, district of Lisbon, is relatively close to the mouth of the Tagus and is from the county seat about 8 km and 18 km from the district capital. Its commercial area is diversified and of great quality, with emphasis on restoration. The county in which Carcavelos is located, Cascais, to mention that it generates 2.3% of the national GDP and is on the 4th. The county of Cascais, whose boundaries were defined by royal charter of 8 May 1370, when it was handed over as a fief to Gomes Lourenço do Avelar, also included, by the fact that it advanced to the “Ribeira de Oeiras”, a small part of the reguengo with this name, which ended at the mouth of the Tagus and would eventually acquire its own individuality, as the “Ribeira de Oeiras” was the name of the river that flowed through the county. By an alvará of 11 August 1759, the "reguengo a par de Oeiras", which later became known as the village of Bucicos, was associated with other areas of the territory of the county of Cascais, to form the village of Carcavelos, despite remaining under the jurisdiction of the donataria of Cascais. The eastern end of the county was then extended to the “Ribeira de Carcavelos”, which thus lost, with the villages of Arneiro, Carcavelos, Rebelva, S. Domingos de Rana and Sassoeiros, the Torre da Agulha and other places between the same river and the mouth of the Tagus.
